What does Gamepad Pro do?#

Gamepad Pro maps your controller, keyboard or any external buttons to taps and swipes on the screen, so you can play touch games and control apps with physical buttons.

Why does it need the Accessibility permission? Is it safe?#

The accessibility service lets Gamepad Pro turn your button presses into taps and swipes, even outside the app. Your key maps only work after it is enabled. Gamepad Pro only uses it to perform the actions you set up — it does not collect or upload your personal data.

It stops working after a while in the background. How do I fix it?#

Android may close apps in the background to save power. Allow Gamepad Pro to run in the background by disabling battery optimisation. Some brands (such as MIUI or Samsung) add extra power-saving rules — the guide at dontkillmyapp.com shows how to turn those off for your device.

Why do I need to enable the Gamepad Pro keyboard?#

Mainly so your controller's analog sticks and L2/R2 triggers can be mapped. Android's accessibility service can read normal button presses, but it cannot read analog stick or trigger movement — only the Gamepad Pro keyboard can capture those. It is also needed for actions such as typing text. Enable and switch to it when prompted so these mappings and actions can work.

Does Gamepad Pro need root access?#

No. Gamepad Pro works through the accessibility service and does not require root. Root or Shizuku is only needed for a few optional advanced features.

Will it work with every game?#

It works with most touch games. A few games block simulated taps or use anti-cheat that may interfere, so it can't be guaranteed for every game. If a game doesn't respond, let us know through Feedback.

The Gamepad Pro keyboard took over. How do I type now?#

The Gamepad Pro keyboard has no typing UI — it only reads sticks and triggers, so nothing appears when you tap a text field. Tap the globe at the bottom right to switch back to your own keyboard. Better still, turn on "Automatically switch input methods" — then Gamepad Pro only uses its own keyboard while mappings are running and hands yours back afterwards.

Why does Android warn that Gamepad Pro can read passwords?#

Android shows the same warning for every accessibility app. Gamepad Pro only uses it to read your controller and the app in front, and to place touches. It never reads, stores or uploads what is on your screen or what you type.
