Bluetooth controllers have to be paired in your phone's own Bluetooth settings first — this app reads the controllers the system already recognises, it doesn't pair them. For USB, the phone needs OTG support and a real data cable; charge-only cables carry no data. Once connected, press any button or nudge a stick to wake the controller, then come back to the home screen.

Anything Android recognises as a gamepad: Xbox Wireless and Series controllers, DualShock 4 and DualSense, Switch Pro, 8BitDo, GameSir, Flydigi, telescopic phone controllers and generic HID pads. How much can be tested depends on what your controller reports — a pad with no motor has no vibration test, one with no touchpad has no touchpad test. Device Info lists exactly what yours exposes.

The name comes from the controller's own firmware and the app just passes it through, so budget pads and some USB adapters report nothing useful. It has no effect on any test result. If you need a reliable identifier, use the Vendor ID and Product ID in Device Info.

Battery has to be reported by the controller itself, and most third-party pads never send it — USB connections usually don't either. Xbox and PlayStation controllers normally report it over Bluetooth. No app can read a level the controller doesn't publish.

Three usual causes: battery optimisation suspending the app in the background, distance or obstacles, and interference from 2.4 GHz dongles or a nearby router. Excluding this app from battery optimisation in your phone's app settings fixes most cases. A pad that also drops out on other devices is likely the pad itself.
