Bluetooth controllers have to be paired in your phone's own Bluetooth settings first — this app reads the controllers the system already recognises, it doesn't pair them. For USB, the phone needs OTG support and a real data cable; charge-only cables carry no data. Once connected, press any button or nudge a stick to wake the controller, then come back to the home screen.
Put the controller down on a flat surface, take your hands completely off the sticks, then read the resting offset. A healthy stick sits at or near zero and stays there; a drifting one holds a steady non-zero value, which is what makes a character walk off on its own.
As a rough guide from ordinary pads: under 3% is normal, 3–8% is mild and most games' built-in dead zone absorbs it, and above 8% tends to be noticeable in game. These are practical reference points rather than a manufacturer specification — what matters more is whether the offset stays steady and whether you can feel it while playing.
How often the controller reports to the phone: the polling rate in Hz and the interval between reports in milliseconds. It is not end-to-end lag from your thumb to the picture — that also depends on the display, the game and the phone, and no app can measure it from the inside. What it is good for is comparing two pads, or the same pad on Bluetooth versus USB.
Three possible reasons: the controller has no motors, Android does not expose vibration for that pad over the current connection, or the pad only accepts rumble from its own console. Device Info tells you which — if it says Vibration: Not supported, there is nothing for the app to drive. On pads that support both, USB is worth trying instead of Bluetooth.
No — it is a one-time purchase that stays unlocked for good. It covers health score and drift trends in Test History, ad-free report export and the latency CSV, saving and playing your own vibration patterns, advanced stick diagnostics such as circularity and dead zone, offline comparison of saved records, and it removes all ads. Every basic test stays free.
